I recently listened to the new Canadian Conservative Party leader, Andrew Scheer, speak French. It got me thinking about how well potential Canadian prime ministers should speak the language, which is one of the official langauges of Canada. Though I've been busy with Slovak in preparation for my trip to the 2017 Polyglot Gathering in Bratislava, I couldn't resist starting to study Arabic script. Though I'm only taking a little look, I know that this time spent with Arabic will, when I come to focus on the language, help me learn more quickly. No time invested in a language is wasted time.
